Under the Canopy
Draw the sheer curtains and make the bed its own small room.
A canopy turns a bed into a room inside the room. Tonight you close the curtains around the two of you and let the lantern light come through in pieces.
The evening
After Midnight: Bolder. Suggestive, never explicit.
Take your time inside the curtains: oral, taking turns, then one of you on top or side by side, whatever keeps you close. The light coming through the canopy is the only clock.
Pick a pause word you'd never say by accident. Either of you can use it, or simply say stop, at any point and for any reason. Check in along the way, and treat a not yet as a perfectly good answer.
The setting
Pierced lanterns and a cluster of candles, so pattern lands on the walls. Overhead lights off.
Something warm and hypnotic with a soft drum under it, low enough to talk over.
Warm and resinous, a little sweet, like a courtyard after dark.
Rough wool underfoot, soft linen on the bed, and cushions you can sink into.
Positions it suits
From the position guide: frank, practical and comfort-aware, with the furniture that makes each one easier.
One partner lies back, the other straddles them facing forward and sets the pace.
Both on your sides, one behind the other, with pillows doing the supporting.
Lying on your sides, turned toward each other. Eye contact and ease.
Hips raised on a wedge or pillow for a better, supported angle.
