Braise ("we," "us"), a DBA of Ember Group, LLC, operates braiseroom.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Braise is for adults 18 and older; we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Information we collect

  • Account information. If you create an account, we store your email and authentication details through our auth provider. You may add an optional display name.
  • Age confirmation. When you confirm you're 18+, we set a cookie remembering that choice for 30 days. We don't collect a date of birth.
  • Room photos you upload. Photos you submit to the Room Designer are processed to generate a render and are not stored by us. They're sent to our AI processors for the transformation and discarded after. We retain only the generated render (and only for signed-in users who save it). The single exception is if you explicitly ask us to keep a before/after pair, see sharing your room below.
  • Wishlists & saved rooms. Items and renders you save are stored with your account so you can return to them.
  • Price alerts. If you ask to be told when a product's price drops, we store the product and the email address to notify.
  • Email subscription. If you opt in, we store your email address and what you asked to receive.
  • Usage & cookies. We use essential cookies and, where enabled, privacy-respecting analytics to understand site usage.

What we deliberately don't collect

Our quizzes and interactive tools (the Yes / No / Maybe list, the Compatibility Checker, the Style Finder, and the Conversation Cards) are the most personal things on this site. Your answers to them are never sent to us and never stored on our servers. They exist only in your browser while you use the tool, and, if you choose to share a result, they are encoded into the link itself. There is no database table of anyone's answers, because we never wanted to be the company that holds one.

A practical consequence worth understanding: because a shared result is encoded in the link, anyone who has that link can open it. Treat those links the way you'd treat the conversation itself.

How we use information

  • To provide the site, your account, renders, and saved content.
  • To process purchases and subscriptions.
  • To send transactional email (e.g., account confirmation, price alerts you opt into).
  • To send editorial email, if you asked for it, and only then.
  • To improve our editorial, tools, and recommendations.

Email

We send two kinds of email, and we keep them separate. Transactional email covers things you asked for directly: confirming your account, a price alert you set, a receipt. Editorial email (new guides and design work) only ever goes to people who explicitly opted in.

Every editorial email has an unsubscribe link, unsubscribing takes effect immediately, and we don't make you sign in to do it. We won't sell, rent, or share your address with anyone else for their own marketing.

Sensitive information

We're aware that simply reading this site says something personal about you. We treat what you look at here as sensitive by default: we don't build advertising profiles from it, we don't sell or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't use it to infer anything about your health, sexuality, or relationships for any purpose other than showing you relevant content while you're on the site.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we have never done so. If that ever changes, we will say so here before it takes effect and provide a way to opt out.

Discretion

Email we send uses a neutral sender name and subject lines that don't disclose the nature of the site. Where we control the billing descriptor, it is neutral as well. We can't control how third-party retailers describe their own charges or packaging. Our store comparison notes what each one does.

AI processing

To generate room renders we send your uploaded image and prompt to third-party AI providers for analysis and image generation. We instruct these providers to process the image for that purpose only; we do not use your photos to train models, and we do not retain the source image unless you have asked us to keep it.

Sharing your room

We'd love to show real transformations rather than only generated examples, and we'd love to quote people. Both are entirely optional, off unless you turn them on, and neither affects what the Room Designer does for you.

How it works, precisely:

  • You can let us hold the before photo.Normally it's discarded the moment your render is finished. If you tick the box when you upload, we keep it privately instead, only so that sharing remains possible, because otherwise the "before" is already gone by the time you've seen the result.
  • You decide after you've seen the render.Ticking that box doesn't give us anything to publish. Once your render is ready you either approve the pair or decline it, and declining deletes the stored photo. If you never answer, we delete it and treat that as a no.
  • Approving still isn't publishing. It gives us permission; we review every pair before anything appears on the site. Most never will.
  • Credit is yours to choose.Anonymous by default. You can add a first name, or a first name and a city, if you'd rather.
  • You can withdraw at any time, from the render itself or by emailing us. Withdrawal takes it off the site and deletes the stored photo. We can't claw back a copy someone else already downloaded or a page another service has cached (no one can), but we stop using it.

One thing worth thinking about before you share a photo of your own bedroom: a before photo can identify you in ways that aren't obvious in the moment: a view out of a window, mail on a surface, framed pictures on a wall. Have a proper look at the frame before you tick the box. And as our terms require, there should be no people in it at all.

Testimonials work the same way: we'll confirm the wording and how you'd like to be credited before publishing anything, and you can ask us to remove a quote later.

Service providers

We share information only as needed with vendors who help us run Braise: hosting, database/authentication/storage, AI image processing, email delivery, payment processing, and analytics. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card details. We do not sell your personal information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, email hello@braiseroom.com. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your saved rooms and wishlist.

Retention & security

We keep account data while your account is active and as needed for legal and operational purposes, then delete or anonymize it. We use industry-standard safeguards, including row-level access controls on user data; no system is perfectly secure.

Where your information is processed

We're based in the United States, and our vendors (hosting, database, AI image processing, email, payments) may process your information in the United States or elsewhere. If you're in the UK, EU, or another region with data-transfer rules, using Braise means your information may be transferred to and processed in a country with different privacy laws.

Children

Braise is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We'll post any updates here and revise the date above. If a change meaningfully affects how we handle your information, we'll say so rather than quietly revising the date.
