How we review.

Our reputation rests on one promise: our verdicts are ours. No brand pays for a verdict, a placement, or a kind word. Here's how we keep that true.

Tested vs. vetted, and we always say which

Not everything can honestly be reviewed hands-on. Some categories are prohibitively expensive to buy in full, and no small team can personally live with every product worth knowing about. So our coverage comes in two clearly-labeled forms, and we never blur the line between them.

• Tested.We've had the product in hand and lived with it, assessing build, materials, comfort, noise, app or hardware behavior, and how the marketing holds up in real use. Where a maker provides a loaner for an expensive item, we say so, and it never changes our conclusions.
• Vetted pick.We haven't personally tested it, so instead of pretending otherwise we publish a researched recommendation, built from expert consensus, verified-buyer feedback, materials and safety specs, and the reputation of the maker and retailer. It's labeled as a vetted pick, not a hands-on verdict.

Both are held to the same standard of honesty and independence. The goal is that you always know exactly what kind of judgment you're reading.

How we assess

We don't publish numeric scores. Anything in our catalog has already cleared our bar for body-safe materials, build quality, and a retailer we trust, so instead of a number, we give you a plain verdict, the dimensions that matter (assessed as strengths rather than digits), and an honest account of what works, what doesn't, and who it's for. For hard numbers, a product's own reviews and independent third-party ratings say plenty.

No sponsored verdicts

• Brands cannot pay for a review, a verdict, or a ranking.
• We do not accept copy, talking points, or pre-written conclusions.
• We earn affiliate commission on some purchases (see our affiliate disclosure) and it never affects what we say.

Sample & in-progress content

As we build, some reviews and guides are marked as sample or illustrative. Those are clearly labeled and are placeholders for the tested, published versions to come. We'd rather flag that honestly than present unfinished work as a final verdict.

Corrections

We fix mistakes. If you spot an error or a claim that no longer holds, email hello@braiseroom.com and we'll review it and update the piece with a note where it matters.
