3. Your weekend install plan

  1. 1. Clear and clean

    1 to 3 hours

Take out everything that isn't staying, then dust, vacuum and wipe down the walls and baseboards. Measure the walls and windows now, while the room is empty.

    One of you

Clears the room and decides what stays, goes or gets stored.

    The other

Cleans top to bottom and takes the measurements.

  2. 2. Paint, if you're painting

    4 to 7 hours, if you're painting

If a new wall color is part of the plan, do it the weekend before or on Friday night so it's dry before anything goes up. Skip this step if you're keeping your walls.

    One of you

Tapes the edges and cuts in around trim and corners.

    The other

Rolls the walls once the edges are done.
