Salt Air, Open Window
Windows open, clean linen, and the sound of water for once.
Coastal Retreat is about air. Tonight you open the windows, strip the bed down to fresh linen, and lie close enough to hear each other breathe over whatever the night is doing outside.
The evening
Candlelit: Sweet and talkative.
Put fresh linen on the bed and open the windows for a while. Lie on top of the covers facing each other and talk about the place you'd go if you could leave tomorrow.
Pick a pause word you'd never say by accident. Either of you can use it, or simply say stop, at any point and for any reason. Check in along the way, and treat a not yet as a perfectly good answer.
The setting
Pillar candles in glass, curtains open to the last of the light, then one warm lamp as it gets dark.
Open windows if you live near water. If not, a long ocean recording, low.
Clean and sun-warmed, like a beach house in the evening.
Rumpled linen sheets, bare feet on jute, and a chunky throw for when the breeze cools.
Positions it suits
From the position guide: frank, practical and comfort-aware, with the furniture that makes each one easier.
Lying on your sides, turned toward each other. Eye contact and ease.
Both on your sides, one behind the other. Lazy in the best way.
Both on your sides, one behind the other, with pillows doing the supporting.
One partner sits cross-legged and leans back on their hands; the other kneels astride their lap facing them and rocks. A relaxed cousin of the Lotus.
