Read to Me
A green-walled study, a fire, and one voice reading to the other.
There's something about being read to. Tonight one of you reads and the other listens, and the room does the rest.
The evening
Candlelit: Sweet and talkative.
Pick a book you both like, or poems, or old letters. One reads, one lies with their head in the reader's lap. Swap every chapter.
Pick a pause word you'd never say by accident. Either of you can use it, or simply say stop, at any point and for any reason. Check in along the way, and treat a not yet as a perfectly good answer.
The setting
One green-shaded lamp and whatever a fire or a cluster of candles gives you.
Late-night piano or a cello, low enough to talk over.
Woody and dry, like a library after hours.
A tartan throw, a leather chair, a heavy wool rug underfoot.
Positions it suits
From our position guide: comfort-first, non-explicit, and paired with the furniture that makes each one easier.
Both semi-reclined and cushioned. Minimal exertion, maximum ease.
One seated at the edge, the other close and supported. Upright and connected.
Both partners on their sides, one behind the other. Gentle and unhurried.
