Candles to the Last Inch
Light the tapers at dusk. The evening lasts as long as they do.
Gothic Romance is our October room: crimson velvet, a candelabra, and a little drama. In this scene the candles keep time.
The evening
Smoldering: Flirtier, a little closer.
Every time a candle burns down past a mark, the next kiss lasts longer. Keep the talking going in between.
Pick a pause word you'd never say by accident. Either of you can use it, or simply say stop, at any point and for any reason. Check in along the way, and treat a not yet as a perfectly good answer.
The setting
Tall tapers in clusters, and every overhead light off.
Slow cello, a little choral, something that sounds like rain on old glass.
Dark and a little sweet, like a church that's been turned into a bedroom.
Heavy velvet, a lace edge, cool satin against warm skin.
Positions it suits
From our position guide: comfort-first, non-explicit, and paired with the furniture that makes each one easier.
Lying on your sides, turned toward each other, with eye contact and ease.
Seated and facing, one settled on the other's lap. Upright and intimate.
One partner reclines with a wedge lifting the hips. The angle does the work.
