Ghost Stories by Candle
Everyone brings a story. The best one wins.
Black walls, burgundy velvet and a tufted bench make a room for telling stories in the dark. Tonight is an October tradition for two or a few: ghost stories by candlelight, with a prize for the best one.
The evening
Candlelit: Sweet and talkative.
Everyone tells a ghost story or the scariest true thing that ever happened to them. Vote on the best one. The winner picks the next song and gets the good spot on the bed.
Talk about what's on and off the table before anything starts, and agree on a pause word everyone knows. Anyone can step out at any point, with no explanation needed. Check in with each person, not only the group.
The setting
Tall tapers in clusters, and every overhead light off.
Slow cello, a little choral, something that sounds like rain on old glass.
Dark and a little sweet, like a church that's been turned into a bedroom.
Heavy velvet, a lace edge, cool satin against warm skin.
Positions it suits
From the position guide: frank, practical and comfort-aware, with the furniture that makes each one easier.
One seated at the edge, the other close and supported. Upright and connected.
Both on your sides, one behind the other. Lazy in the best way.
Lying fully together, legs outstretched and pressed close. Simple and snug.
