The Masquerade
Lace masks, candlelight, and a stranger who knows you very well.
A mask changes how you look at someone, even someone you know by heart. Tonight one of you wears lace, the room is lit like a ballroom after midnight, and you meet again as if for the first time.
The evening
After Midnight: Bolder. Suggestive, never explicit.
The mask stays on until the very end. Let the stranger lead, against the wall or on the bed, and take it off only when you want to see who's been there all along.
Pick a pause word you'd never say by accident. Either of you can use it, or simply say stop, at any point and for any reason. Check in along the way, and treat a not yet as a perfectly good answer.
The setting
Tall tapers in clusters, and every overhead light off.
Something old and orchestral, low enough to talk over.
Dark and a little sweet, like a church that's been turned into a bedroom.
Heavy velvet, a lace edge, cool satin against warm skin.
Positions it suits
From the position guide: frank, practical and comfort-aware, with the furniture that makes each one easier.
Both standing, facing each other, close enough to kiss. Spontaneous and hot.
One partner seated, the other straddling their lap, facing. Upright and intimate.
On top, facing away. A different angle and a different view.
Standing face to face, the receiving partner raises one leg all the way up so their ankle rests on the other's shoulder. A standing split for the flexible.
