Missionary
Also called: Face to face, one on top
One partner on their back, the other on top facing them. The classic for a reason.
The receiving partner lies on their back with knees bent and feet flat or legs wrapped loosely around their partner. The partner on top kneels or lies between their legs, supporting their weight on forearms or hands, and enters from there. Small changes go a long way: legs wider for closeness, knees pulled up for more depth, a slower rocking motion instead of long strokes.
Kissing, eye contact, whispering, and full-body contact. It's easy to set the pace together and easy to stop and talk.
A firm pillow or a wedge under the receiving partner's hips tilts the pelvis for a better angle and takes strain off the lower back. The top partner can rest on forearms instead of locked arms.
Try grinding in small circles rather than thrusting. Many people find the steady pressure does more than speed does.
Later in pregnancy, lying flat on your back for long stretches can leave you lightheaded. Side-lying and on-top positions are usually more comfortable; check with your midwife or doctor if you're unsure.
A wedge under the hips turns plain missionary into something with a much better angle.
