A consent-first primer on your first set of cuffs: materials, fit, and the conversation that comes first.
Restraint play begins long before anything is buckled. The most important step is a calm, specific conversation: what you're each curious about, what's off the table, and a clear signal (a safeword) that pauses everything, no questions asked.
When you're choosing your first set, comfort and quick release matter more than anything dramatic. Soft, lined cuffs with secure but easily-undone clips let you stay present instead of fussing with hardware. Under-bed systems are a forgiving starting point: they store invisibly and adjust to any bed.
Fit should be snug, never tight. You should be able to slide two fingers under a cuff, and circulation should never be affected. Keep a pair of safety scissors within reach the first few times, not because you'll need them, but because knowing they're there lets everyone relax.
Aftercare closes the loop. However light the session, take a few minutes together afterward: water, warmth, and a quiet check-in. It's not an afterthought; it's part of the experience.
