Lovense Lush 4

Our verdict

The same wearable, app-run egg as the Lush 3, with a much bigger battery, quick charging and a light on the tail. If you're buying your first Lush, this is the one to get.

How we vetted it

We haven't used Lush 4. This take rests on Lovense's own product page and spec sheet, the official product photos Lovense sent us, and how its published numbers compare with the Lush 3 we've already covered. Where Lovense gives two different figures for the same thing, we tell you.

What works well

The idea hasn't changed: an internal egg with a flexible tail, worn hands-free and run through the Lovense Remote app, either up close or by a partner anywhere in the world through a Control Link. The app still does more than anything else in this category, with live control, a library of patterns plus your own, music sync, and a mode that reacts to the sound around you. Most of what's new is about charge. Lovense lists up to 350 minutes of use, up from 220 on the Lush 3, and five minutes on the magnetic charger buys roughly an hour. A full charge takes 45 to 50 minutes (Lovense quotes both), where the Lush 3 needs 85. Outdoor Bluetooth range goes from up to 75 meters to up to 105. The tail now carries an LED panel that changes color with intensity, and the whole thing is rated IPX7 waterproof.

Why we chose it

  • Up to 350 minutes per charge
  • Five-minute charge for about an hour
  • Same deep Lovense app
  • IPX7 waterproof
  • Light you can switch off

In your room

The light is the part that changes things at home. With the lamps low, the person holding the phone gets something to watch, since the color follows the intensity they pick. Turn it off before you leave the house. Quick charging changes the planning too: five minutes on the cable while you get dressed covers about an hour. Keep the paired phone in a pocket or bag nearby, stick with a water-based lube, and rinse it with warm water and soap afterward. It's fine in the bath.

Pairs with

Skip it if

You'd rather keep apps out of your sex life, or you only play at home in short sessions. In that case the Lush 3 does the same job for $10 less.

Who it's for

First-time Lush buyers, long-distance couples, and anyone who wants one charge to last a whole evening out. If you already own a Lush 3 that holds its charge, there's no pressing reason to upgrade.
