Standing Wheelbarrow
Also called: Floor wheelbarrow
The full wheelbarrow, started from the floor: the front partner on their hands and forearms, the standing partner lifting their hips to hip height.
The receiving partner starts on hands and knees on a rug or cushion on the floor. The partner behind stands, straddling or just behind their calves, and lifts the receiving partner's hips and thighs up to their own hip height, holding them firmly at the thighs or with the receiving partner's legs wrapped around their waist. The receiving partner drops onto their forearms or keeps straight arms, head low, while the standing partner takes the weight of their lower body. Unlike the bed-edge wheelbarrow, nothing supports the receiving partner's hips but their partner, so movement is short and controlled. Bending the standing partner's knees lowers the angle and eases the strain; lifting higher makes it steeper and deeper.
A bold, athletic minute or two with a very deep angle. Most couples treat it as a playful peak rather than a place to stay.
Do it at the edge of the bed instead, so the front partner's chest rests on the mattress. That's the regular wheelbarrow, and it holds much longer.
Lower down together on a count of three, knees first, rather than letting go.
This one takes real strength and balance. Skip it with a bad back, wrists or knees, and try it near the bed so there's somewhere soft to land.
A thick rug or a firm cushion under the front partner's forearms is close to essential.
