The Mermaid

Hips at the edge, legs held straight up and together like a tail. A tighter cousin of the Butterfly.

How to do it

The receiving partner lies on their back on the bed or a sturdy table with their hips right at the edge and a pillow under them for lift. They raise both legs straight up and keep them pressed together, like a mermaid's tail. The standing partner stands close at the edge, holds the receiving partner's ankles or calves against their own chest or shoulder, and enters from there. The receiving partner's weight is fully on the surface, and their hands are free to hold the edge or touch themselves. Unlike the Butterfly, the legs stay together, which makes everything feel tighter; tilting the legs a little toward the receiving partner's head deepens the angle.

What it's good for

A snug feel and a strong angle toward the front wall or the prostate, with no strain on the receiving partner. Good eye contact over the top of the legs.

Make it easier

Rest the legs against the standing partner's chest instead of holding them straight up, or bend the knees slightly.

A small tip

A firm wedge under the hips is what makes this one work. Without it, the angle drops off.

Comfort and care

Deep positions can hit the cervix or press on tender spots. Start shallow, let the receiving partner set the depth, and ease off at the first wince.

Made easier with

A wedge under the hips gives the lift this position depends on.
